The J.D Drew saga continues.....

Nick Carfardo reported this afternoon that the Red Sox and Scott Boras are backing talking about the J.D. Drew contract. Boras was tied up with the Barry Zito mega-contract and Theo was on vacation. An insider tells Carfardo a deal is close.

Jim Rice spoke today about once again failing to get the 75% of votes needed to be elected to the Hall of Fame.

“I’m not disappointed because I’ve been down this road before,” Rice said. “I
thought there was a chance and I guess I got a few more votes (nine). I had my
fingers crossed really for the first time since the voting began. It didn’t
happen, but we’ll have to see about next year and what that brings.”

Red Sox had their Sox rookie development program camp at Boston College this afternoon and Carfardo gives details.

Bad news for the Patriots as Rodney Harrison will not play Sunday at San Diego and Chargers Shawne Merriman today predicted his team would beat the Patriots

Should be a lot of Red Sox news later in the week as the Baseball Writers Dinner is tomorrow night at the South Boston Convention Center.

I hate January
